Happy Fall! Although it has been fall for a while, it is getting quite cold now. Thank you to everyone who came to the meeting and to all those who weren’t able to attend, we missed you! 

What is DOC NC? 

• DOC NC, or Dedicated to our community of North Carolina, is a local non-profit that raises funds for a different organization each year. In the past, we have fundraised for Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Triangle, Duke PBMT, and the Suhanee Foundation. You can visit docnc.org to learn more!

October Recap:

• ToM Art Project (Submissions due 10/8/2021)
  • Art project where kids from grades K-5 are encouraged to participate! The winner will get a banner of their art hung out in Town Hall.  
  • Winner was at the meeting! 
• October 11th, 2021 – Field Trip to the NCSU Solar House
  • Puzzles and other fun activities to learn about solar. 
• October 13th, 2021 – DOCNC w/ Cedar Fork Community Center Aftercare Students
  • Teaching a lesson plan on recycling. Hoping to do this with other sustainability topics. 
• October 24th @3pm – DOC Talk on the fast fashion industry and sustainability
  • A monthly discussion on different topics to further our knowledge on them. These discussions are about 30 minutes to an hour. Will send more details with a zoom link and access to resources as we get closer to the date!
• October 27th @4:15pm – Halloween Costume Contest at Cedar Fork Community Center
  • 4-5 members ran booths and asked students to create costumes from recycled materials! 
• Halloween Events
  • Shaurya
    • Green day event where people dropped off items they wanted recycled. 
  • Sania
    • Band invited to her neighborhood and sold food and drinks to raise $250.

  • Communications team is working on this!

  • In progress but many are done!

Upcoming Events:

• Collaboration w/ Town of Apex
  • Town of Apex would like DOCNC to collaborate with them in various events such as the Earth Festival on April 23rd. 
  • Activities we’ve decided on for 4/23/2022 and leads: Creative Corner (Arya & Vera), Weaving Wall (Kavya & Anvita), and Presentation (Arsh & Pari) 
    • Reach out to them if anything sounds interesting. 
• DOCNC Talent Show ( November 1st – 20th)
  • The acts will surround sustainability and ALL members are encouraged to participate! There will be 5 winners, who will each receive a $100 gift card.
  • Everyone is encouraged to send in a video!
• December 17th, 2021 – Holiday Party 
  • DOC NC will be holding an annual holiday party in December so please be on the lookout for more information on that! We will have guest speakers from the Town of Apex.
