What started off as an 8 member organization in 2010, has now grown to include 100+ volunteers. The DOCNC team comprises mainly of students from kindergarten to 12th grade and their supportive parents. Regardless of age, we all share a similar goal: To make a positive and lasting impact in our community and make a difference in the world. DOCNC has even helped a school for the visually impaired in India. Our volunteers put in an immense amount of time and effort into the work, and in turn, develop new leadership and communication skills. We plan events, set up stalls, sell raffles, do face painting and henna, volunteer at a retirement community, and put on performances like singing, dancing, etc. Our volunteers make DOCNC possible and are the driving force behind our success. Our volunteers radiate support, motivation, and love for one another, and are always ready to lend a helping hand. When we work together, there is no goal we cannot achieve.
DOC NC is more than just an organization – it’s a community. Not only has it helped me learn more about local organizations, it has motivated me to increase my awareness of social issues and help make tangible change in my own way.
Srinithi Srinivas, Grade 12
I love that DOC NC is always looking for ways to help the community in whatever way that they can. Being a member for a little over 3 years has taught me so much! It’s taught me that no matter how young you may be you can still make a difference.
Sanjana Farmah, Grade 11
I love that DOCNC helps me to learn about the community more. I feel like I am doing a good thing for the community and contributing for a good cause. I learned that doing good will make you feel good and satisfied that you did it.
