Past Initiatives
In 2016-2017 DOC NC decided to fundraise for a unique cause, the Suhanee Foundation. We assisted them in funding Antarjyoti Balika Vidyalaya, the only residential school located in Patna, Bihar for visually impaired girls. We raised $25,000 with them and some of our members got to visit the school. It was a great experience.
DOC NC volunteers stood outside Walmart in Morrisville and sold books, jewelry, games, candy, and more to fundraise. Many people gave us donations after hearing about our cause. In total, we raised $1302. Keep it up, team!
DOC NC volunteers split up into teams and went door-to-door in a neighborhood asking people if they would like to have their car washed. After we washed their car, they would give us a generous donation of any amount they wished. We raised $341 in total.
Diwali is the Festival of Lights, an Indian festival that falls in the month of October. DOC NC volunteers used this time to sell glow sticks and other items, do face painting and henna tattoos, and hold raffle contests to raise money for our charity. The event was held on October 12, and we raised $2110. Way to go, team!
To celebrate the Indian festival of colors, DOC NC held a grand Holi Event open to the public in front of Walmart. Friends and families came to play and it was an opportunity to enjoy delicious food, try arts & crafts and play fun games for kids. They could also explore a fire truck and meet firefighters and a police chief!
DOC NC volunteers organized a yard sale today and raised $454. Great job, Team!
